Munich 5/23 - 5/25

Wanting to make the most out of the long weekend as Monday was a public holiday, I decided to go to Munich as there was no need to take a night train (no more reservations to other cities).

I left Saturday morning at around 8 and took the train to Zuerich HB first, and then to Munchen. After arriving at around 4, I checked into my hostel (Wombat) that was right next to main train station (Hauptbahnhof). Once I entered the hostel, I was surprised that I was to occupy the last remaining bed for the night. Since no on else was in the room, I decided to go walk around the Viktualien market, and see what was up. Before I took the subway to the market though, I went to get a leberkassmmel at the Vizenmurr in the Hauptbahnhof, and it was perfect. The market was really nice, and the atmosphere was very unique, unlike anything I've seen before.

After going to the market, I really wanted a Doner kebab and I went to a top rated place. I ordered the chicken sandwich and that shit was loaded with meat, sauce, and crisp veggies. It was truly perfect. After that (and some might call me fat for this), I went to try the Argentinian ice cream that was recommended to me by one of the hostel workers. The ice cream was a bit disappointing to me to be honest, but it was still nice to try food from another culture.

I then went back to my hostel as I hoped the other people in my hostel would have returned and to my surprise, they did! I learned that they were mostly from the UK/Northern Ireland and was on a Stag Do, or a bachelors party. Most were around mid to late 20's and were super funny and welcoming. After about 30 seconds of introducing myself, they invited me to this Bayern Munich fan bar to watch the final game of the season.

Spoiler alert: Bayern Munich won. The bar was decked out with Bayern Munich memorabilia and practically every inch was colored with some kind of Bayern Munich decorations. They said it was like a English pub type of vibe, and I can see that as Europe goes crazy for soccer (football okay guys). People began chanting different chants and when Bayern scored 3 times, each time was electric.

After, we went to a beer garden to grab a stein of beer (I hate beer so I had none), and then played a drinking game twice. The game was basically an elimination game where everyone had a finger on the rim of a bottle, and people would go around in a circle saying a number and you could lift your finger or keep it on right before a number was said. If you guessed the number of fingers on the rim of the glass right, you were safe, and it kept going until there was one person left. That person had to chug the entire beer.

Honestly, it made me realize how important relationships were in life. If even after 10+ years, friends can still talk like they were just messing around yesterday, I've had a great life. They were all so funny, had a lot of advice to give (most were married and about to have kids), and funny stories to tell.

After, we went to grab some more drinks, and ended up stumbling across an outdoor bar/club situation where they were playing Techno music, and people were dancing. It was pretty warm outside and the vibes were good. We stayed there for a bit, and then went the this "bar" that some had a hint of suspicion was going to be a club. The bar/club was called 089 and was PACKED. Think Avalon times 5. Music was really good, but a pretty young crowd there. Smell of cigs was strong and lots of looks were given to me since I stood out as the only Asian there.

We left pretty quickly since it was so packed and you could move, to get KFC... I wanted to stay a bit later (even though it was 2) since the club was just starting to get active (nightlife culture is insane there) but it was the persons Stag Do and I wasn't going to just leave.

After eating the worst KFC I've had and returning back to my hostel, I brushed my teeth and knocked out. The others had to check out but I met up with them at the old town square, and got a coke zero. They started playing naming games such as name the first 151 gen 1 pokemon, US states, soccer clubs with the most wins of each country (I didn't know even 10% of these teams). After a while, they had to leave and I said bye. I went back to the hostel, got some water and headed towards the Zoo. I hadn't really been to a zoo in a while and it was pretty big. My favorite was the polar bear and I was really conflicted because its a terrifying predator out in the wild but looked so cute.

I then went to get a wurst plate with 3 types of sausages. Food was sooooo good. After eating, I went back to the hostel, met the two new people I'd be staying the night with, and called my parents. After, I met up with them to get a beer (didn't drink again), and got another type of ice cream from True and 12 or something. I got the lavender and saffron with rosewater and it was insanely good. The rosewater was amazing and lavender was also good.

After talking with them for a while, we went back and slept. Upon waking, I went to try the Weisswurst. I got 2 weisswurst's and a pretzel for 3 euros, and also got a drink which was more than the food lol. Food was once again amazing. I went to the English garden after to watch surfers surf on the lazy river, and walked around the palace or something nearby.

I then got a schnitzel from Steinhein 16, and it was hugeeee. They gave me 2 giant schnitzels, and the fried potatoes was really good also. I went to the train station shortly after to pick up some snacks and board the train. After a delayed first train, I had to take a different second train, but ended up getting back at around 10.
