Day trip to Lyon, France

Waking up tired as hell at 7:40, I almost didn't want to even go to Lyon today. Butttt, after knowing that I only have this opportunity once in a lifetime, I knew I had to go.

After barely making the 8:23 train (I boarded at 8:22), I headed to Geneve, and then had a 30 minute transfer from there to Lyon Part Dieu. Before boarding the train to Lyon Part Dieu, I saw that there a place for inspections due to it being an international train. I thought it was kind of interesting because when I went to Munich, I passed through Austria before going to Germany and there was nothing like that for that train ride.

After arriving in Lyon, I just realized how big of a city it was. Apparently it's the second biggest after Paris for all of France and there were a lot of tourists there. I went straight from Part Dieu to Le Laurencin as I heard it was one of the time tested places for not too expensive and rightly so! For 20 euros I had a 3 course Lyonnaise meal and it was pretty good! I choose the Lyonnaise salad, Ochelle or something with Pike fish, and 2 types of goat cheese.

Right across from my restaurant was actually a famous ice cream shop with literally over 50 flavors, and I knew I had to try it, but couldn't as I was super fully after the 3 course meal. I decided to walk to the Notre Dame cathedral at the top of the hill nearby and it turned out to be a short hike. I first went up the wrong path and almost walked into a school before two security guards stopped me, but then went through the park to get to the cathedral. The park had about 7 switchbacks, and was genuinely steep. After arriving at the top though, the views of the entire city was amazing. I could see the Rhine, and the colorful rooftops of all the buildings.

The inside of the cathedral was even more stunning. The murals were all made of small tiles and extremely colorful. Some pillars were made from red and green marble (maybe blueish?). Walking down, I finally went to get ice cream. I decided to get the mountain hay flavor because it seemed really unique, and got lemon mint. Hay had a bit of a lavender taste to it, and lemon mint was really good, although a little bit salty.

After, I went to a couple of pharmacies to get skincare stuff that I didn't have, ate at an Ethiopian/Kenyan restaurant called AWANI and got a goat platter for 20 euros. The spicy sauce was a must and was really good.

I then went to try and find some shampoo, but couldn't find the brand I was looking for, so I went to the trains station to head back.
