Day 9: 6/2
After meeting up with John for the first time in person at 10am, we proceeded to talk about ideas for the scribing, and the most important factor about having compliance in the scribing mechanism.
We started programming the robot, but then John had to leave and I had to go and learn about the slot die coater.
The training for the slot die coater was extremely complicated and had all sorts of issues and quirks that you need to know about. I expect to be trained with the slot die coater and actually use it myself before it is used for any films.
After lunch, I went with John to do more programming and scribing. We first scribed glass, and used other pieces of glass to hold the scribed glass in place so it didn't move. We then transferred to the perovskite on FTO and made some scribes.
After a bit of fiddling around, the scribing was really amazing and clean. However, looking at it under an optical microscope, it seemed to be way more jagged and brittle.
We will have to determine if the scribe was cutting through just perovskite or also FTO.
